San Lorenzo High School

Banned Items

There is no valid reason for a student to have some objects on campus even if their parents may allow them such possession off campus. Aside from items such as weapons of any type, pagers, and drug paraphernalia, all of which are specifically banned by state laws, there are other objects which students may not bring to school. The following items are of no reasonable use to a student in the school environment and should not be in a students possession:

  • Thick felt marking pens or spray paint containers
  • Fireworks of any type including poppers
  • Squirt guns and other similar items for playing with water
  • Heavy jewelry (including 2 finger rings or rings with projections) or similar items (such as spiked wristbands) which could be used as weapons
  • Pornographic pictures or reading materials
  • Radios and tape players without headphones
  • Wallet chains
  • Laser pointers
  • Laser pens
  • Electronic devices (including iPods and MP3 players)

Possession of these items will be grounds for disciplinary action including suspension if repeated.

A student who wears or listens to a "iPod" during class must turn the device over to the teacher or staff member when asked. They will also receive a referral to the Assistant Principal for further consequences, including possible suspension.

New state laws allow students to be in possession of cell phones on campus. However, the cell phone must be turned off and out of sight during class time(including classrooms, hallways, restrooms).
