Dress Code Policy
Students are asked not to wear the following items:
- Dress that draws undue attention to or detracts from the educational process is unacceptable. Appropriate student dress is necessary in order to:
- maintain order
- provide safe/positive learning environment
- promote discipline
- Clothes, apparel or attire must be sufficient to conceal undergarments. Straps must be a minimum of 1 inch wide. Excluded clothing includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Bare midriffs
- Low-cut tops
- Halter tops
- Backless tops
- Strapless tops
- Pants that are worn below the waist which expose undergarments are unacceptable.
- Skirts and shorts which are shorter than mid-thigh are unacceptable. (approximately finger tip length is acceptable)
- Shoes must be worn at all times.
- Thongs (flip-flops) are unacceptable footwear.
- Hats may not be worn in buildings
- Watch caps, stocking caps, beanies, wave caps, hair nets, bandannas and all headgear identified as gang related are prohibited.
- Wearing or possession of clothing, jewelry, accessories or any manner of grooming that denotes membership or identification with a gang is strictly prohibited.
- Clothing, jewelry or body markings which promote drug or alcohol use, violence, profanity, bigotry, or intolerance against people on the basis of their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual preference or which incorporates profanity is prohibited.
- Dark glasses will not be worn indoors, except for valid medical reasons authorized by the administration and verified in writing by a physician.
Students dressed inappropriately will be sent home to change clothes and will receive unexcused absences for classes missed.
