San Lorenzo High School

Link Crew

The Link Crew here at San Lorenzo High School is designed to help incoming freshmen enter high school in a smooth and enjoyable way. Each freshman is assigned a Link Leader who helps them through the first year.

Who are these "Link Leaders"?
Link Leaders are upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) who are good role models for younger students and who have been successful at SLZ. Link Leaders' communication skills, leadership potential, responsibility and personality have helped them succeed at SLZ and the lessons they have learned can be shared to help others succeed.
What do Link Leaders do?
Link leaders are trained to work with the incoming freshmen class next fall. After the small group training, the Link Leaders will run freshmen orientation before school starts in August. At the orientation, each Link Leader team will be given a small group of freshmen to work with that day and will be asked to befriend and help that group during the first week of school with any challenges they may face. Periodically during the school year, Link Leaders will meet again with their student groups to touch base, discuss problems, and plan social activities. We know that the more contact a freshman has with his/her Link the more successful that freshman will be.
How do you get involved as a freshman?
Well, the first step is to come Freshman Orientation on Wednesday, August 26th at 8:00 am in the Big Gym. Freshman will be introduced to their Link leaders, toured through the school and given valuable information about their first year in high school. The event will end at 12:30pm.
