To All San Lorenzo High School Families:

It is my pleasure to extend to each of you a warm welcome to San Lorenzo High School. I am honored to work with you to ensure that your childern have every opportunity and support that allows then to be successful academically and socially. We wish this to be a successful and satisfying year for you. Our hope is that all students take full advantage of the opportunities at SLZ in order to enjoy a successful high school experience.

It's important to me that we create an environment here where your child can be academically successful and meet the goals you have for them. My hope is that we will work collaboratively in this process. If you ever have any concerns or issues, be sure to bring them to our attention.

One of our areas of focus this year is attendance. One way that you can help with that is to call if your child will be absent or late. If your child will be absent for multiple days, be sure to call to get work so that they don't fall behind.

Come visit the school as often as possible. If you have any concerns, come to school, contact the teacher, or set up an apointment with the counselor. We look forward to seeing you at events like Report Card night. We have many events to help you get more familiar with the school and opportunities, such as the Poetry Slam and athletic events.

We encourage you to take an active role in partnering with us on behalf of your child. The most important ways you can help:

• Set the tone at home. Tell your child often that learning and education is important.
• Send your child to school regularly. The most valuable instruction happens in the classroom and can't be captured by make-up assignments.
• Make sure your child knows you fully support school rules and have high expectations for your child's learning and behavior.

These are extremely important years in the lives of your children. We encourage parent involvement and know it to be one of the most important indicators of a child's success. We trust you will support us as we educate and assist your children with the learning and skills they will need to graduate from high school and lead productive adult lives. Feel free to contact the school if questions arise.

The mission of San Lorenzo High School is to challenge students to reach their highest level of academic achievement, to provide opportunities and support for social and emotional growth, and to build connections to future education, assisting them to become successful members of the 21st century society.
